retrack: journal
a journal for the things you would never write anywhere else.
a little room to write, a clear place to stop. with an optional drawing, your real words stay out of casual view, even when someone knows your phone passcode.
coming soon to the app store
write on three days free, then one purchase · iphone · ios 26 or later, built for ios 27
a small, finishable page
write freely, or choose “guide me” for a few short questions. a free page has ten lines; each guided answer has three. a few words are enough. tap the checkmark to save and see your words in pages. return to today whenever you want to write again. the journal day rolls over at four in the morning.
preview the questions, choose a template, or make your own. unfinished writing is saved privately on this phone. the checkmark adds it to your journal.
the drawing
choose a drawing during setup or later in settings. ordinary history then shows generic covers and neutral marks. hold on the page and draw your drawing to reveal your real words. a wrong drawing leaves the covers as they are. practice on a fictional page first; no personal writing is needed.
leaving the app covers your words and puts unfinished writing away. reveal your pages to continue a draft. you can also cover pages while staying in the app. if you skip drawing setup, your real words remain readable.
privacy for casual browsing
the drawing is separate from the optional face id app lock, which can use your device passcode. it keeps an ordinary-looking journal in front of someone casually browsing your phone. the feature itself is explained openly in settings and here. it is not a claim of protection against forensic access or access to your apple account.
your devices, your private icloud
no account with us, no writing server, no analytics. kept pages live on your iphone and sync through your private icloud when available. unfinished drafts stay local. real words are encrypted; we do not receive them. the ordinary cover is selected from built-in generic lines, sometimes with help from apple's on-device model. the model never writes or paraphrases your cover. see the privacy policy.
built for the newest iphone
write from the action button, control center or a widget. ask siri to write in your journal. lock the app with face id as a first door. a year view of the days you wrote. an optional daily reminder, off until you say. export everything as plain text or pdf, after your drawing.
three writing days free, then once
write on three distinct days free, with more than one page if you want. after that, one app store purchase keeps the journal going. the app shows the current price in your currency before you buy. no subscription; existing pages stay readable. the terms of use are apple's standard licence agreement.
